sorry for taking so long to update. One scorching Saturday it was. We invaded Orchard Road, or part of it. Nice to see people being responsive. And we would like to thank everyone that came to support us.=)

Part of Percussionistas also helped out with a recent event held at Home Academy, where the singapore police force were having their sports carnival. We came up with rhythms using bins and pails. Though we couldn't beat the team with the chinese drums, we won our division, second for cheer(apparently, this is the first time they won). We had fun jamming anyway.

Exactly 1 year ago, we started practices in Fengshan CC with just 5 members. I was thinking that the band was gonna start off with a very slow and we wouldn't achieve much 6 months down the road. But fate proved me wrong. And 1 year flew by damn fast. And its much more than I've expected. So happy 1st band anniversary. Thank you for your effort and the band would never be the same without each and every one of you. And to the members we've lost, I'm sorry you couldn't stick around cause its just the beginning of something god-damn- great!

On a slightly more serious note, band resumes on 10th of October, Friday. You'll be hearing soon from either Syahidah or me. Those with O's, please don't come back, i'll kill you. Those who wanna "recruit" their friends, please bring them along for any band practices.

Those interested in going WildWildWet (as a band) please let me know, we'll be going somewhere between 13-19 October. Limited tickets!strictly band members, don't tell me you wanna bring your sister, your cousin, your aunty, your grandma all.

Finalised band tees. Designed by Hester and I. Keep in mind the red shirt sleeve will have the Fengshan Youth Logo. I will send the design to Audrey when we resume band in October.

In case you guys didn't know, Percussionistas 1st anniversary is on the 29th of September.=)

Peepshow @ Baybeats 2008

Despite me asking you guys to come. Only Eugenia and I made it to Baybeats in the end, rather disappointed that you guys couldn't be there. But anyway, they did really good. 4 new songs. Their performance was the best we've ever seen. Very very energetic. Most of the crowd screamed for the encore, but the organisers didn't have time to squeeze in one more song.

Anyway, you know how they did a banner for us for Fengshan Stars.....? We did for them 2 very decorative banners, done by Eugenia and I, of course. And gave it to them on behalf of the band. The banner had pictures of us.heh.

Baybeats

One of the biggest shows in Singapore, Peepshow will be performing at Baybeats. And you know that they came all the way to Fengshan to support us for our very very short performance and even did a little performance for us.

So let's go there and show our appreciation to them. If you're going please let me know, its at the esplanade. Sue, Eugenia and I will be there from 7pm.

Try your best to make it okay, it'll probably be the last band outing for a few months.

Syahidah got it bad.

So we invaded Commonwealth Close on Saturday.
It was burning hot but it was hell a lot of fun.
What we did was lead 500 over people from the top of Commonwealth Close to a secondary school down the hill.
It was a mini parade with the music booming from the lorry, brazillian dancers with the Mayor and the 500+ people with balloons(who were later going to form a heart on the field at the secondary school). So we had to play anything that went with the music,played from the lorry. Once we reached the secondary school...we continued playing till we reached the field which was packed with at least 1000 people. So while waiting for the 500+ people to form the heart, we were still playing.
At the end of it, most of us we burnt, exhausted and dehydrated. But we had positive feedback from the organiser and that is what that matters.

One person who got it bad that day was Syahidah, I swear she couldn't keep her mouth shut the whole day. This is what we did to her in the morning before we went for the performance.

I see this blog dying slowly. I've decided to update the blog with stuff as often as I can.

Anyhoooo.....2nd August, Percussionistas will be performing at Commonwealth. (blks 80+)
Event starts at 2.30pm. No further information yet.

We have 2 guest players joining us,Tara and Sherie.

Loads of dancing and energy for the performance and of course brand new beats mixed with the old.=)

Starting out with me stressing out, we had fun in the end.
We started the day early practising till the last minute.
Fengshan told us we couldn't play what we intended to play cause the programme itself was long.
So we ended up cutting the piece short.

Peepshow came to support us. and they made this banner!

So sweet of them!
Anyway, we should them our 2nd home and got pizza for them. We played for the them the piece we wanted to play. In turn, they played a few songs for us.Thanks Peepshow! We love you guys!
We're looking forward to collaborating with you guys, hopefully!

We made friends with a 2 of the contestants from Fengshan Stars. Mike and Sebastian, who did damn well during the performance. =)

A huge thanks to Hester for being there so early, helping us and taking videos! We appreciate it.

Its back to basics and we're looking forward to our band camp!=)

Just a lil over midnight, and i realised we have 5 more days till our performance.

As much as we are excited, its kind of sad, cause most of them , will start taking study breaks.
But it'll benefit the rest of us, cause we'll go back to basics and train on the different instruments and we'll be back at the end of the year. All-new.

Anyway, please come for our performance on the 8th. We'll be the opening act. and supposedly the opening act is all drama and stuff...We plan to 'wow' the audience/friends/family. So come, if not you're missing out.

Performance at SACSS

Percussionistas had a hell of a time at SACSS...nervous at first..but we did great. Too bad we weren't allowed to talk on the mic. I had A LOT of things to say. heh.
The comments that we got is that apparently we were the best item out of the whole earth day concert. And not to mention, when I looked around, I saw gawking expressions from a few familiar faces. That's what you get when people say untrue things about you, and you just ignore it and give your best to prove to them, whatever they said was crap. No pictures or videos taken though because we had no one to help us.( our photographer was working..haha)

Performance at Fort Canning

The performance at Fort Canning was a tiring one but rather fun. We started the day early.
Sat at Fort Canning park waiting for the whole event to start. Practising, laughing, taking a few pictures. And when it was time to perform...we were all hyped. Cheers from only few people in the crowd. But generally, they enjoyed our music. But playing softer was a bit of a challenge for us. Anyway, loads of pictures taken after the performance, click the link at the side. We've learnt not to treat ourselves as rockstars cause now we're just starting out and if people want to treat us like shit then we have to take it cause we're not in a position to request, we ain't professionals....yet. But we are working very hard towards it.

Our next performance will be Fengshan Stars and Percussionistas will be the opening act. We'll be doing something new. We invite everyone to watch us that day!!!! Come and support us!

Percussionistas Changi Beach Club Invasion

We had a awesome performance at Changi Beach Club, though the crowd was
engrossed with their food. We had good comments...here and there.

1st Post Ooooo Yeahhh!!

Our first post ooo yeahhhh!!!
We decided to set this up, basically for our convenience..sort of.
And of course show off our talent, in hopes that one day,
we will become so famous that Ellen Degeneres decides to send
us plane tickets just to perform on her show. (we will keep praying for that day)

Anyway, in case you were wondering...we've done more than the NYP performance
Yes, we have....
And if you notice the video is dark cause the lighting at that place sucked(rather, they didn't turn it on)
Soooo... a lot of speculation has been going on about our band. And we plan to set it right soon at one of the performances.

We're all hyped(i think) for our performance at Changi Beach Club.

We'll give updates as soon as we can.
